APCPLAY assists Bossier City church with acquisition and installation of new high-quality playground equipment
Every year, APCPLAY helps numerous churches to plan, purchase, and build commercial playgrounds. When Stonewall Missionary Baptist Church contacted them, the playground specialists learned that they had a unique opportunity to provide a large and entertaining outdoor recreational space.
Located in Bossier City, Louisiana, the goal of Stonewall Missionary Baptist Church is to serve in the spirit of humility and charity, and to enable people toward independence while respecting racial, culture, and religious differences. One of the ways they achieve that goal is thru their Multi-Cultural Development Center which works with approximately 300 youth and parents from poverty, drug and crime-ridden communities.
The new playground is a great way to occupy children of parents who are undergoing counseling by the church’s leaders. It is also a great place to allow children to feel comfortable and safe, making it easier to discuss their issues and methods of improving their situation while at play.

APCPLAY helped the church to install eight different pieces of playground equipment, including: two commercial play structures, two spring riders, a trike path gas station, climb and discover cave, ball toss, and a sand and water play table. All of the activities provided offer unique child development benefits. Some provide physical challenges, other engage children’s imagination, and even more still help to improve cognitive abilities by offering outdoor learning opportunities.
With the assistance of APCPLAY’s playground specialists, the church chose their “Flower Mound” play structure, which is designed to accommodate up to 22 children ages 2 to 5 years old. It is home to two slides at low and high deck heights to reward children small and large with fun. The taller of the slides is a side-by-side one that encourages socialization by competition, racing each other to the bottom. The structure also houses a Kitchen Panel, encouraging their imagination to explore domestic role play. The Talk Tubes and Play Wheel also promote imaginative play, while the two climbers offer physical challenges to improve their motor skills. The structure is also ADA accessible via a transfer station which encourages inclusive play amongst children of all ability levels.
The second play structure installed is also designed for children ages 2-5, but is constructed almost exclusively from rotationally molded plastic. Intended more for toddler use, this play structure features bright colors, cute animal faces, and activities designed to engage younger minds and imaginations. Combined with the other independent play activities, such as the frog and whale spring riders, and the whale shaped sand and water table, kids that visit the church won’t have much trouble pretending they’re in another world.
Of course, all the playground equipment provides fun and excitement to encourage kids to be kids and simply play. Some of the children in the neighboring areas around Stonewall Missionary Baptist Church don’t have the opportunity to play in areas conducive to their growth and safety. So it is with pride that APCPLAY was able to assist the church in providing a means to give those children that opportunity.
