The Airline Vikings, Benton Tigers and Haughton Bucs won freshman football games Monday evening. Airline defeated Captain Shreve 34-20, Benton edged Byrd 20-19 and Haughton topped Northwood 28-26.
In junior varsity games, Bossier downed Logansport 25-14, Benton fell to Byrd 28-12 and Airline defeated Captain Shreve 7-6.
At Airline, Devarrick Woods forced three fumbles and recovered two, including one for a touchdown, in the Vikings’ victory.Ā Alex Garcia threw touchdown passes to Devin Bilbo and Jordan Boyd.Ā Garcia and Jaylon Jenkins scored rushing TDs. Garcia also completed a two-point conversion pass to Ty Taylor.
JoJo Harvey recovered a fumble and Makhi Tanner intercepted a pass.
Airline’s TD in the JV game came on pass from Jordan Gladney to Hunter Dykes. Tung Khai kicked the decisive extra point.
Frank Hamilton ran the ball well, Airline coach Bo Meeks said.Ā “The defense played very well,” Meeks said.Ā Montrez Henderson had an interception. Carter Slack played a great game, Meeks said.
At Benton, Clint Lasiter hit Jordan Glynn with a 30-yard touchdown pass with 10 seconds left to lift the Tigers to the victory.Ā Lasiter also passed 12 yards to Dane Stearns for a touchdown and scored on a 5-yard run. He also had a key two-point conversion run.Ā Benton’s Ken Gay threw three touchdown passes of 10 yards to Ethan Yarbrough and 30 to Malik Antwine in the JV game.
At Haughton, Peyton Stovall threw two touchdown passes to Gage East and KiShaun English in the Bucs’ victory.Ā Stovall and English also ran for TDs.
