Sub-varsity football: Airline sweeps Byrd; Bossier, Parkway post JV victories


The Airline Vikings swept the Byrd Yellow Jackets in junior varsity and freshman games at Byrd on Tuesday.

Airline won the JV game 21-0 and the freshman game 34-6.

In other junior varsity action, Bossier knocked off Lakeside 38-14 in Sibley, and Parkway slipped past North Webster 21-14 in Springhill.

At Byrd, Airline quarterback Hunter Matthews passed for one touchdown and ran for another to lead the JV. His TD pass went to Nate Fullilove.

Travacier Jeter returned a fumble for a touchdown. Ian Stanfield and Montrez Henderson had interceptions. Kobe Johnson recovered a fumble.

Noah Sheets kicked three PATs.

Brian Marshall and Melvin Pugh both returned interceptions for touchdowns in Airline’s freshman win. Kyle McConathy passed to Carson Slack for a touchdown and also scored a two-point conversion.

Jamal Johnson had two rushing touchdowns. Daniel Smith scored a conversion.

At Lakeside, Isaiah Wallace rushed for 120 yards and scored two touchdowns to lead Bossier. He also completed a 70-yard touchdown pass to Deondre Summage. Wallace was also a standout on defense with nine tackles and a forced fumble.

Daniel Moore carried nine times for 90 yards and scored two TDs. Michael Green rushed for 50 yards on seven carries.

Zach Elkins led Bossier with 10 tackles. Reginald Burns had eight, Joe Robinson seven and Demarco Hill five. Ke’wun Fradger had two tackles, including a sack.

At North Webster, Amani Larry scored on a 40-yard run and hit Kendall Brown for a 30-yard score to lead Parkway to the JV win. Alec Crain also scored on a 1-yard run.

The Panthers also recored a safety. LaKedrick George had a sack.
