Sub-varsity football: Benton, Airline win freshman games; Airline, Plain Dealing get JV wins

The Benton Tigers and Airline Vikings won freshman football games Monday.

Benton defeated Parkway 22-14 at Benton, and Airline routed Southwood 48-6 at Airline. In another freshman game, Byrd edged Haughton 13-7 at Byrd.

In junior varsity action, Benton and Parkway tied 12-12, Airline downed Southwood 30-8, Haughton fell to Byrd 35-24 and Plain Dealing edged Bossier 20-18 at Bossier.

At Benton, Clint Lasiter scored on runs of 2 and 27 yards and tossed a TD pass to Jackson Illingworth in the Tigers’ freshman victory.

Lasiter also scored a two-point conversion.

Cade Waites tackled a Parkway player in the end zone for a safety.

Benton’s Ken Gay scored on runs of 2 and 20 yards in the JV game.

At Airline, Jaquarius Rabon, Alex Garcia, Rovelle Young and Jaylon Jenkins all had rushing touchdowns and two-point conversions in the Vikings’ freshman win.

Garcia threw a TD pass and two-point conversion pass to Jordan Boyd.

Keelyn Henderson returned an interception for a TD. Carlos Sanders also had an interception.

Jordan Gladney threw two touchdown passes to Kevin Pouncy in the JV victory.

Thomas Williams and Caleb Allen each had a rushing TD.

Donnie Dunn and Triveon Wilkins recovered fumbles. Makel Granville had an interception. Daniil Khrysostomu made all four PATs.

At Byrd, Haughton’s TD in the freshman game came on a 13-yard pass from Peyton Stovall to Dustin Phillips.

Haughton’s Zander Morris threw a 60-yard TD pass to Matthew Whitten and scored on a 4-yard run in the JV game.

Chance Pearson returned a kick 55 yards for a touchdown. Derion Phil raced 80 yards for a score. Alex Ebarb had a fumble recovery.

At Bossier, Ladarious O’Neal scored the go-ahead TD with under a minute to play on an 80-yard pass from Caleb Lane in Plain Dealing’s JV win.
