Sub-varsity football: Haughton edges Shreve in JV game

The Haughton Bucs edged the Captain Shreve Gators 16-14 in a junior varsity game Tuesday at Haughton.

Xander Morris passed 35 yards to Peter Howard for the Bucs’ first touchdown. Billy Cranford kicked the PAT.

Cranford’s 25-yard field goal gave the Bucs a 10-0 lead. Derrick Frazier had an interception as time expired in the first half.

Quint Mitchell scored Haughton’s second-half touchdown on a 4-yard run.

Shreve recovered an onside kick after scoring with 16 seconds left to get within two, but the Gators missed a 42-yard field goal with 3 seconds left.
