Bossier Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested a substitute teacher Monday afternoon for having sexual relations with a 17-year-old Parkway student earlier this month in Haughton.
Chelsea A. Alexander, 29, a substitute teacher at Parkway High School, was charged with Prohibited Sexual Conduct between Educator and Student and arrested by summons. No other students were involved.
Louisiana Revised Statute 14:81.4 took effect in 2009 and prohibits sexual conduct between an educator and a student when the student is between the years of 17 and 21 and the age difference of the educator and student is greater than four years. The misdemeanor crime is punishable with a fine up to $1,000 and/or imprisonment for not more than six months.
The investigation was initiated by an anonymous tip to Bossier CrimeStoppers, and Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington encourages anyone who has information about any criminal activity in the parish to contact 318-424-4100 or go to www.bossiercrimestoppers.org.
No booking photo was made available due to an arrest by summons.
