Sunny Skies Light the Way to Complete Restoration

SWEPCO continues to make strong progress restoring power following Winter Storm Fern, with improving weather conditions expected to support restoration efforts over the next several days. While morning travel remains slow and slick due to overnight freezing, afternoon temperatures rising into the low to mid-40s will aid crews in the field.

As of 11:30 a.m., about 17,700 customers across our service territory remain without power. With the massive winter storm, SWEPCO crews have successfully restored approximately 155,373 outages that were the result of this historic storm.

Arkansas customers have been fully restored. Most Texas customers are also restored, with the remaining outages in the southern Longview area affecting about 3,910 customers in Carthage, Kilgore, and Henderson. These customers are expected to be restored tonight.

In Louisiana, the Shreveport service territory is largely restored. The majority of the remaining 15,580 outages are in the Natchitoches service territory, where roughly 10,000 customers were restored yesterday. Due to significant damage in this area, SWEPCO has shifted major resources to the Natchitoches area, where crews are positioned to make substantial progress today.

We know outages are challenging, and we appreciate your patience. Our crews and those who have traveled hundreds of miles to help are committed to bringing the lights back on for every customer as quickly and safely as possible.

CUSTOMER RESOURCES

As repairs continue, SWEPCO is working closely with local officials to make warming stations available on our outage map so customers can find safe places to go if they need shelter.

Because of icy roads, crews must travel safely and slowly. Outage statuses on SWEPCO’s outage map may stay on “Assessing” longer than usual. Thank you for your patience and for supporting the linemen working in these conditions.

As the restoration efforts progress, SWEPCO is redeploying crews and equipment and shifting to support customers in the areas still without power. This allows us to move resources where they can make the biggest impact, as quickly and safely as possible.
