Breast cancer survivors from ten northwest Louisiana parishes will gather together, along with family and friends, Saturday, July 20, 2013 at the American Rose Center to celebrate life after breast cancer.
The event is hosted by the Northwest Louisiana Affiliate of Susan G. Komen and begins at 10:00 am with a silent auction, followed by the brunch.
Award winning communications specialist Janie Walters will be guest speaker for the event. Walter is currently a professional speaker and corporate trainer as well as an author of two books, a devotional, Develop the Habit of Joy, and Blow A Bubble Not A Gasket: 101 Ways To Reduce Stress And Add Fun To Your Life.
“Each year the Survivor Luncheon is a great way for women to reconnect and celebrate the journey and common bond they share as breast cancer survivors”, said Lindsay Dean, Executive Director of the NWLA. “We all know that southern women are Steele Magnolias, so Chairman Sarona Synder and her committee came up with a great theme in the Southern Belle Brunch, complete with shrimp and grits and mint juleps on the menu.”
Tickets for the luncheon are $15.00 for breast cancer survivors and $25.00 for guests and are still available online at komennwla.org. All of the proceeds will benefit Susan G. Komen. 75% of the proceeds raised will stay here in our ten parish service area and fund breast health education and screening mammograms. 25% goes to breast cancer research..
