Taco Wars, the region’s only taco and salsa festival and competition, is back and better than ever! The festival, presented by Modelo, Jose Cuervo, Maestro Dobel and the Prize Foundation, will return on Saturday, April 30 from 12:00pm to 8:00pm outside the Shreveport Municipal Auditorium along Elvis Presley Avenue.

The festival is free to the public and family friendly, and it will feature local taquerias, battling it out for the coveted Golden Taco (Best Taco) and Golden Molcajete (Best Salsa). A panel of celebrity taco aficionados will taste and determine the winner of the Best Taco. All attendees will receive voting tokens upon entry to the festival and will vote to crown the Golden Molcajete, or Best Salsa Award. All competing taquerias will sell their tacos to a hungry crowd and also provide free samples of chips and salsa to attendees.

“Taco Wars is a celebration of the region’s Latino culture, and we are incredibly proud to host this amazing event,” said Gregory Kallenberg, Executive Director of the Prize Foundation. “Aside from that, it’s one of the most fun and delicious events of the year, so we hope we see everyone down at the Municipal for Taco Wars 2022!”

In addition to the taco and salsa competitions, the family-friendly event will feature live performances by local band Grupo ReMiFa and headliner Tropical Panama, hailing from Neovo Leon, Mexico and one of the legendary Mexican pioneers of the cumbia sound. There will also be a kids’ activity area and other vendors will be on site selling sweet treats for guests to enjoy. Coca-Cola products will be for sale again this year, along with Modelo beers, margaritas, sangria and the Casa de Tequila tasting experience from Maestro Dobel (for those 21 and over).

While music, activities and chips and salsa are free to attendees, all food and beverages purchases will be made using tickets. These tickets will be available for purchase at the festival and will also be available for advance purchase in bundles of 10. A VIP experience will also be available for purchase. 90% of food sales will go directly to the taquerias and food vendors.
