Agents with the Bossier Combined Narcotics Task Force completed a check of 22 businesses in the city and parish over the past two weeks to ensure their compliance with not selling alcohol to customers under the age of 21.
Task Force agents, comprised of deputies with the Bossier Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Bossier City Police Department, checked seven businesses in the Benton area and 15 businesses in Haughton and Bossier City.
Agents found 16 of the 22 businesses to be in compliance, while clerks at six businesses received citations for selling alcohol to underage patrons.
Not in compliance with the law were:
-Valero at Benton Rd. and Viking Dr.
-Dixie Mart at Benton Rd. and Brownlee Rd.
-Dixie Mart at Highway 3 and Burt Blvd.
-Country Junction at Highway 3 and Highway 162
-Willow Chute at Palmetto Rd. near Linton Rd.
-The Cellar at Airline Dr. near Swan Lake Rd.
The Bossier Combined Narcotics Task Force comprises agents of the Bossier Sheriff’s Office and the Bossier City Police Department. The team was established in October 2012 by Sheriff Whittington and Chief Shane McWilliams as a combined effort to combat illegal drug activity and associated crimes all throughout Bossier Parish.
“We will continue to crack down on the selling of alcohol to underage buyers,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington. “Our goal is 100% compliance with the law, and we will hold businesses and clerks accountable who don’t comply.”
