Bossier City police arrested two teenagers Tuesday in connection with two overnight burglaries after the pair returned to the scene of one of the crimes.
Detectives with the BCPD’s Property Crimes Unit arrested 17-year old Andrew Bayles and a 16-year old male, both of Bossier City, for simple burglary, aggravated burglary and resisting arrest.
Both were taken into custody after officers responded to a call Tuesday at approximately 1 p.m. about two suspicious male subjects who entering a rear door of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5951 in the 1300 block of Northgate Drive.
When the two were confronted by people inside the VFW, the suspects fled on foot but not before the 16-year-old punched one man in the face who attempted to detain the pair.
Officers responding to the scene were able to locate the 16-year-old several blocks away near the intersection Williamsburg Drive and Salem Place while Bayles was caught nearby with the assistance of a Bossier City Police K-9. Bayles sustained a dog bite and was treated at University Health in Shreveport then released to police.
A subsequent investigation linked both Bayles and the 16-year-old to burglaries that happened overnight at the same VFW post and the CDS Dental Studio in the 1500 block of Northgate Drive.
An undisclosed amount of cash was taken in the VFW break-in which officers recovered from Bayles. Detectives learned that the suspects had returned to the VFW Tuesday afternoon to retrieve a backpack belonging to the 16-year-old.
Bayles was booked into the Bossier City Jail. The 16-year old was booked into the Ware Youth Center in Coushatta. His name cannot be release due to his age.
