A new chapter in recreational sports is arriving in Bossier City as The Picklr, a rapidly expanding indoor pickleball franchise, prepares to open its newest facility at the Louisiana Boardwalk.
Located at 540 Boardwalk Blvd., the facility promises to become a hub for pickleball enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. While an official opening date has yet to be announced, excitement is already building around the arrival of the popular national brand known for its state-of-the-art indoor courts and vibrant community atmosphere.
Pickleball—a paddle sport combining elements of tennis, badminton, and table tennis—has seen explosive growth in recent years, with players from across generations embracing its fast pace and social appeal. The Picklr has been at the forefront of this trend, offering premium facilities nationwide, including over 500 locations sold and a notable partnership with Pickleball Inc. and Super Bowl champion Drew Brees.
Founded in 2021 by Jorge Barragan and Austin Wood, The Picklr was born out of a passion for the sport and a desire to create dedicated spaces for both casual and competitive players. Barragan, a former tech professional, was inspired to launch the business after witnessing the growing popularity of pickleball at his local rec center—where long wait times and a lack of indoor space pointed to a clear demand.
Since then, the franchise has grown into a nationwide brand built around community, inclusivity, and the love of the game. The Bossier City location will offer memberships, league play, training sessions, and open court access, ensuring players from beginners to seasoned athletes have a welcoming place to play.
The new venue is expected to contribute to both the local economy and the growing sports tourism market in Northwest Louisiana. With its location at the Boardwalk, The Picklr also adds an exciting recreational option to the popular shopping and entertainment destination.
More details, including the grand opening celebration, are anticipated soon.
For now, residents can look forward to a new way to connect, compete, and stay active—right in the heart of Bossier City.
