A tragic accident has claimed the life of a young Bossier City child.
Bossier City Police responded to a report of a child being run over in the 600 block of Rome Street Thursday morning. Upon arriving, officers made contact with 27-year-old Damion Dacaldacal, the father of the child.
Dacaldacal stated that he placed his three children into his vehicle to take to day care. He then walked back to his residence to lock the door and secure his home.
Unbeknownst to him, after walking back to his residence, his 14 month old daughter crawled out of and walked in front of the vehicle. Dacaldacal went back to his vehicle and did not notice his daughter was no longer in her car seat.
Dacaldacal went to pull out of his driveway and accidently ran over his daughter. The child suffered life threatening injuries and was transported to University Health, via Bossier City Fire Department.
Paramedics continued CPR on the child after arriving at University Health. BCPD reports that the child succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
