Track and field: Benton sweeps OCS titles

Benton swept the boys’ and girls’ titles in the Ouachita Christian School track and field meet last week in Monroe.
Benton scored 117 points in the boys’ division to 107 for runner-up Ouachita Parish. West Monroe finished third with 90.
The Lady Tigers won with 117.5 points. Ouachita Parish was second with 94.5 and Cedar Creek third with 90.
Benton won only two events in the boys’ division, but the Tigers racked up points with second- and third-place finishes.
Donovan Williams won the 100-meter dash in 10.99 and Keon Coleman took the 300 hurdles in 40.74.
Stephen Singleton and Alex Whittington finished 2-3 in the 1,600. Singleton and Logan Caskey finished the same in the 3,200.
Cody Ratliff captured second in the long jump and third in the 110 hurdles.
Other Benton runner-up finishers were Layton Spears (pole vault), Collin Milton (javelin) and Ryan Campbell (800).
Chauncey Taylor was third in the shot put. The Tigers also finished third in the 4X100 relay.
The Lady Tigers scored big in the field and distance events.
Lazaria Lloyd and Yakina Manning finished 1-2 in the shot put. Lloyd’s winning toss was 36-10.
Shelby Leninger (pole vault, 8-6), Rhegan White (discus, 97-00.25) and Somer Miller (javelin, 104-6) were also winners.
Quinci Middlebrooks was a double winner on the track, taking the 800 in 2:39.96 and the 1,600 in 6:10.20.
Other runner-up finishers were Keke West (triple jump) and Katie McKay (3,200). Third-place finishers were Mary-Ella Robison (high jump) and Jenna Key (3,200).
