The Haughton Buccaneers won their third straight District 1-5A boys track and field championship Friday at Lee Hedges Stadium.

Bossier Parish teams took the top three spots in the boys division. Haughton scored 142 points, edging runner-up Airline by 14. Parkway was third with 97.

Parkway finished runner-up in the girls division. The Lady Panthers scored 115.5 points, 13.5 less than champion Captain Shreve. Airline was third with 110 and Haughton fifth with 67.

The top four individuals and relay teams qualified for the Region I-5A meet Wednesday in Natchitoches. The 5A state meet is May 7 at LSU.

Senior Antonio Woodfork scored 38 of a possible 40 points in individual events for Haughton in the boys division. He won the 300 hurdles (40.05 seconds), the long jump (22 feet, 2.5 inches) and the triple jump (41-10).

Woodfork and Airline senior Xavier Johnson continued their duel in the hurdles. Last week, Woodfork defeated Johnson in the 110. But Johnson got some revenge Friday, running a 14.11. Woodfork, who slowed at the end, ran a 15.33.

Johnson finished second, well back of Woodfork, in the 300 hurdles, in 40.85. He won the triple jump with a leap of 41-10. Teammate Travacier Jeter, a sophomore, was second with a 40-1.5.

Haughton got 17 points in the pole vault. David Leitnaker won with a 12-6. Haughton’s Sean Godfrey and Parkway’s Stony Butler finished tied for second at 11-6.

Junior Josh Lister helped the Bucs score 30 points. He remained undefeated in the 100 with a 10.43. He also ran on Haughton’s winning 4X100 and 4X200 relay teams with Lavonta Gipson, Kynan Hayes and D’Kovin Ware.

But Lister didn’t start the 200, an event he’s won all season. Parkway sophomore Darius Bradford won in 22.35. Haughton’s Hayes, also a sophomore, was second in 22.46. Hayes had a good meet, adding a third-place finish in the 100.

Airline’s Tyler McCallister won the javelin with toss of 167-6.5 and finished third in the shot put.

Airline junior Seth Papineau was a double winner, taking the 1,600 in 4:35.45 and the 3,200 in 10:00.70. Parkway sophomore Cole Billiot was second in both in 4:39.99 and 10:11.52, respectively.

Haughton’s Duncan Smith and Jarod Hamilton finished 2-3 in the 400. Parkway sophomore Andrew Robinson and Airline freshman Taejon Morris were also 2-3 in the 800.

Parkway finished second in the 4X200 relay in 1:29.15 and third in the 4X100 and 4X400.

Other Bossier Parish athletes finishing third were Parkway’s Jarod Hamilton (400), Parkway’s Jackson Picard (110 hurdles), Airline’s Malik Britt (300 hurdles), Airline’s Jeter (long jump), Airline’s Drew Brewster (discus) and Haughton’s Colt Shankle (javelin).

In the girls division, Parkway senior Sara Funderburk won the 800, 1,600 and 3,200 for the second straight year. She ran a 2:34.36 in the 800, a 5:51.46 in the 1,600 and a 12:44.90 in the 3,200.

Athletes in the district meet weren’t out to run their best times. Qualifying for regionals was a priority.

Funderburk also anchored Parkway’s winning 4X400 team. She, Madison Brogan, Claire Carlyle and Miranda Scotten ran a 4:12.35.

Airline sisters Brittany and Jasmine Roberson also had outstanding days.

Brittany and Jasmine continued their local domination in the 400, finishing 1-2 in 1:00.39 and 1:01.45, respectively. Brittany also finished third in the 200.

Both Robersons ran on Airline’s winning 4X200 relay team. Brittany, Jasmine, Brooks and Lauren Daley ran a 1:46.00. They also teamed with Daley and Ashlyn O’Glee for a runner-up finish in the 4X400.

Jasmine won the high jump. She and three other athletes, including Parkway’s Jasmine Edie-Nicholson, cleared 4-10. Jasmine took first on fewer misses and Edie-Nicholson was second.

Haughton’s Inez Green was a double winner, taking the shot put with a toss of 37-9 and the discus with a 90-1.

Haughton’s Caitlin Tibbits and Jenna Blank finished 1-2 in the pole vault. Tibbits went 9-3, 3 inches higher than Blank. Tibbits also finished third in the triple jump.

Airline’s Bethanie Dunn took second in the 3,200 and third in the 1,600.
