Plain Dealing junior Keldrick Carper won three events in the Region I-1A track and field meet on Tuesday at Haynesville.
Carper won the 110-meter hurdles in 16.14 seconds, the long jump with a leap of 21 feet and the triple jump with a 43-7.
Carper, one of the state’s top high school football recruits in the Class of 2017, was the Outstanding Performer in the Class 1A meet in the LHSAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at LSU last year.
This year’s meet is Friday, May 6.
Carper is the defending 1A champ in the triple jump. He was second in the 110 and third in the long jump last year.
Carper finished second to Cedar Creek’s Mitchell Spillers in the 110 and Haynesville’s Detavion Evans in the long jump in the District 1-1A meet last week. They finished second to him in the regional.
Plain Dealing sophomore Teunna Perry won the triple jump and high jump and finished second in the long jump in the regional meet.
Perry went 35-1 in the triple jump, 5-0 in the high jump and 16-11 in the long jump. She was edged by Hayesville freshman Erin Franklin, who went 17-0.5, in the long jump.
Perry won the long and triple jumps in the District 1-1A meet. She jumped 17-6 in the long jump to runner-up Franklin’s 16-1.
Perry finished second in the triple jump and fourth in the high jump at the state meet last year.
