Track and field: Several parish athletes ranked first in state

Thursday’s Haughton Relays is the final tune-up for parish high school track and field teams before district meets.
All parish teams are expected to compete.
Several parish athletes rank among the best in the state in their respective events, according to the track and field website Louisiana Running Mile-split   (la.milesplit.com).
Haughton senior Micah Larkins, a Northwestern State signee, has the fastest times in the state in the boys’ 100- and 200-meter dashes.
He has a best of 10.31 in the 100 and a 21.44 in the 200. The 100 time is also a school record. Larkins is the reigning Class 5A champion in that event.
Larkins is also part of Haughton’s 4X100 relay team, which leads the state with a best of 41.89.
Parkway’s Cory Hamilton has the fastet time in the 400 with a best of 48.20. Hamilton won the Region I-5A regional last year but was runner-up in the state meet to Airline’s Jaqavis Hart, now at Louisiana Tech.
Airline’s Jack Wilkes tops the state list in the 800 with a 1:52.15.
Parkway’s Alison Ringle has the fastest time in the state in the girls’ 3,200 with a best of 11:13.59.
Louisiana New Tech at Plain Dealing eighth-grader Teauna Perry ranks first in the triple jump with a 39-4.
