Bossier Schools is celebrating big news after learning all three of its National Merit Scholar Semifinalists have advanced as Finalists, a level of achievement that is especially difficult.

Dario Cosic from Parkway; Shannon Mathers from Airline; and Cameron Thomas from Benton made the cut in the high-stakes academic competition. They began among the 1.6 million students that applied for the National Merit Scholarship Program, only to remain on the list after it was whittled to 16,000. That list just became even smaller and all three Bossier Parish students were chosen as Finalists.

This makes the trio eligible for the National Merit Scholar designation and scholarship, as well as scholarship offers from corporations and universities around the nation.
