Truck collides with train in Bossier Parish

Bossier Parish, LA – Around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, a train collided with an 18-wheel tractor trailer rig at a crossing on Highway 3 in Bossier Parish (slightly south of Cash Point Landing).

Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies identified the location as Hat Creek Dirt Pit on Benton Rd.

There were no injuries reported in the crash. The driver of the truck reportedly went across the tracks as the train was heading south. The conductor of the train was said to have sounded the train’s horn, but reports indicate that the driver of the truck did not take heed of the warning.

Neighboring train crossings are reportedly open, but the crossing at Cash Point Landing is closed at this time.

The truck was loaded with blasting sand. As a result, there were no hazardous materials concerns.

Benton Road remained open during the incident. However, speed limits were reduced.
