Turner Lee Hazelwood

BOSSIER CITY – Turner Lee Hazelwood, 80, of Bossier City, passed away October 17, 2013. He was born in West Point, TN on August 26, 1933 to the late William Luther and Alice Lee Hazelwood. He graduated from Letourneau College in Longview, TX then spent two (2) years in the United States Army. Turner worked for Arkla Gas Company for 33 years as a draftsman and department supervisor before retiring in 1990. Not only was Arkla the place where he made a career, but it’s also where he met his sweetheart for life Mary Bennett Hazelwood. Turner and Mary loved spending time together; you rarely saw one without the other. They loved fishing, camping and traveling across the country in their RV, spending time with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Bennett Hazelwood; three children, Rebecca (William) Kennedy of Blanchard, Byron (Tami) Hazelwood of Shreveport, Shelly (Chris) Marr of Sherwood, AR, four step-children, Linda (Glen) Breedlove of Brandon, MS, Leslie (Teresa) Heins of Lafayette, LA, Robert (Jill) Heins of Benton, LA, Andy (Heather) Heins of Dublin, OH, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Leslie Heins, Robert “Robby” Heins, Andy Heins, Todd Carter, Chris Marr and Glen Breedlove.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, October 21, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, with Reverend Robert Beadle officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. preceding funeral service. Burial will be at Rose-Neath Cemetery in Bossier City.

We would like to give a special thank you to Ms. Sharon Hall for taking such wonderful care of our loving husband and father. And, to the doctors and nurses of Hospice and the Grace Home, you made a very difficult time a little easier. We would also like to thank Dr. Charles Powers, Dr. Paul Jordan, Dr. Michael Sewell, Dr. Sanjeevi Tivakaran, Dr. Robert Savory and Pam Nail, R.N.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Grace Home or the Alzheimer’s Association.
