University Health Shreveport, along with LSU Health Shreveport Department of Otolaryngology will offer free hearing screenings for children and adults. The event is called Hear U and will take place this Saturday, March 12th at Community Church’s Kid City at 5720 Buncombe Road in Shreveport. The screenings will run from 11am – 4pm.
According to the Hearing Loss Association of America, about 48-million Americans report some degree of hearing loss. It affects both young and old. Now, there are devices to help with hearing loss, including cochlear implants, hearing aids and assistive technologies.
The first step is to be tested for hearing loss. Experts will be on hand for free hearing screenings and speech assessments. There will be presentations from professionals and specialists. You will also have the opportunity to hear from real people, about their experiences with hearing loss and new technology.
The event is free and open to the public. Since there is a good chance of rain, children are invited to have fun inside Kid City with its large indoor playground, arcade and children’s activities.
