UPDATE: Carjacking leads to officer involved shooting in south Bossier

UPDATE: A Bossier City police officer was involved in a shooting while responding to a reported carjacking.

Bossier City officials said the officer responded to a reported carjacking near the CenturyLink Center around 12:31 p.m. on Feb. 13, 2020. The call resulted in in an officer involved shooting.

The officer has been placed on paid administrative leave per Bossier City Police Department policy.

Per recently implemented agency policy, Bossier City Police Chief Shane McWilliams requested that the investigation of the officer involved incident be conducted by Louisiana State Police. 

This is the only official information available at this time. We will update with more information once it becomes available.

A man was shot and killed by Bossier City police and a car was stolen and wrecked in south Bossier Thursday afternoon, sources have told the Press-Tribune.

There is no confirmation that the incidents are related.

Police have been on scene since early this afternoon around the CenturyLink Center in south Bossier.

A portion of the Arthur Ray Teague Parkway and the CenturyLink Center have been closed as a result.

The CenturyLink Center issued an official statement saying that a “serious police incident unrelated to CenturyLink Center operations or events” resulted in the closure of the area. 

Friday and Saturday’s events for The Louisiana High School Athletic Association State Wrestling Championship will proceed at CenturyLink Center as planned. 

Louisiana State Police have joined BCPD in the investigation.
