BOSSIER CITY – Graveside services for Verne N. Wiggins, 93, will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Hill Crest Memorial Park with Calvin Jean officiating. The family will receive visitors Tuesday, June 11, 2013 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Verne was born in Center, Texas on January 4, 1920 and passed away on June 9, 2013 in Bossier City, Louisiana. He was a graduate of Fair Park High School. After high school he answered the call of duty during WW II by joining the United States Navy. During his time in the Navy he served on board the USS. Comstock. After the war he started Wiggins Sheet Metal Company. Verne was a member of the Bossier Rotary Club and a life member of VFW post 4588.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert A. Wiggins and Blanche Hinton Wiggins; wife, Charlene Jean Wiggins; a great- grandson, Corey Gratham and 12 brothers and sisters. Verne is survived by a son, Robert Wiggins and wife Sandra; three grandchildren, Chris Wiggins and wife Marta Elana, Cheryl and Lisa; five great-grandchildren, Dillon, Blair, A.J. Michael and Sam; three great-great-grandchildren Haley, Hadon and Carter.
