Veterans’ job and resource fair set for Thursday

The fall Veterans’ Job and Resource Fair is set for Thursday, September 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Bossier Civic Center.

Nearly 70 vendors will be on site during the fair, ranging from major regional employers to employment agencies and veterans’ resource services.  Among the major employers set to be in attendance are Benteler Steel/Tube, CSC – Computer Science Corporation, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories.

While military members and their families transition at all times of year, the summer serves as a higher transition time than most any other time.  With the close-out of the summer transition cycle, businesses will not only have the opportunity to identify well experienced and highly motivated veterans looking for work, but many spouses who are new to the area will also be looking for jobs.  These spouses, many of whom are very well educated and trained, gain a great deal of experience through their collateral service to our country and make great employees.

The event is a collaborative effort between the Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Hero2Hired, Goodwill Industries of Northwest Louisiana and the City of Bossier City.  The Veterans’ Job and Resource fair is sponsored by Willis-Knighton Health System Virginia College, and Louisiana Timber Partners.

The event is free to both businesses as well as job seekers.  Veterans, active duty military members and their dependents are welcome to attend the event.
