The Airline Lady Vikings took sole possession of the District 1, Division I volleyball lead with a four-set victory over the Captain Shreve Lady Gators on Tuesday at Airline.
Both teams came into the game with 4-0 district marks. Airline improved to 9-5 overall. Shreve dropped to 10-6. The Lady Gators are tied with defending champion Ruston, which defeated Haughton in straight sets, for second.
Airline hosts Ruston in another key match Thursday.
The Lady Vikings won the first two sets against Shreve 25-23 and 25-14. The Lady Gators got back in it with a 25-20 third-set victory.
The fourth set was tight with the Lady Vikings pulling out a 26-24 victory.
Airline’s Cassie Bailey had 20 digs and one ace. Haylea Patterson had 11 aces, four kills and four digs. Lauren Pilcher had six kills, five blocks and one dig.
