Volunteers for Youth Justice (VYJ) and the Court Appointed Special
Advocates (CASA) program are proud to announce their annual Light of Hope events in
recognition of Child Abuse Awareness Month this April. These events will take place
across multiple parishes to bring awareness to the importance of protecting vulnerable
children and ensure that every child has a safe and nurturing environment and is an
opportunity to take a moment of silence to commemorate the children who have lost their
lives to child abuse and neglect in 2024.
This year’s Light of Hope ceremonies will take place on the following dates:
- Minden: April 10, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Academy Park Minden 71055
- Arcadia: April 17, 2025 at 10:30 AM at The Arcadia Town Hall1819 S Railroad Ave,
Arcadia, LA 71001 - DeSoto Parish: April 24, 2025, at DeSoto Parish Courthouse 101 Texas St,
Mansfield, LA 71052 - Caddo/Bossier: April 29, 2025, at 11:00 AM at The Harbor 3004 Knight Street
Shreveport LA 71105 - The Light of Hope serves as a powerful reminder of the role that the community plays in
advocating for the safety and well-being of children. Each event will feature remarks from
community leaders, CASA advocates, and local stakeholders who are dedicated to
breaking the cycle of child abuse and neglect.

light on the issue of abuse, and commit to protecting the most vulnerable among us,”
said Alex Person, Director of Community Engagement for Volunteers for Youth Justice.
“Through our Light of Hope events, we honor the work of our CASA volunteers and
encourage the community to stand in solidarity with children who need a voice.”
