Louisiana-based Waitr announced today it has partnered with local restaurants to launch a local food drive to help feed families in need this Holiday season. Beginning today, Waitr will collect non-perishable food donations at select Shreveport/Bossier City area-restaurant locations to support area food banks and charities, who need donations more than ever before.

Already dealing with increased demand caused by the pandemic, organizations are now facing a new challenge – rising food prices. The higher costs put even more strain on food banks trying to help millions of Americans, including here in the Shreveport/Bossier City area.

Waitr has partnered with these area restaurants for the Holiday Food Drive:

· Firehouse Subs (7230 Youree Drive Shreveport)

· Dillas Quesadilla (440 E Bert Kouns Industrial Loop, Shreveport)

· Chimi V’s Fajita Factory (2050 Old Minden Road, Bossier City)

· The Corner Pantry (2620 Beene Blvd, Bossier City)

· Imperial Cathay (6359 Youree Dr., Shreveport)

Items can be dropped off in the donation bins at each participating partner through the week of Christmas, during their regular business hours. Those dropping off food will receive a coupon for a free delivery with Waitr the next time they use the service. Waitr will then deliver all the collected food items to The Lovewell Center.

In addition, those ordering from their favorite restaurant using the Waitr app or website Waitrapp.com will have the option to click the donation banner to provide a monetary donation. Waitr will send those making donations a code for a free future delivery. Waitr will match a portion of all the customers’ donations.

The most-needed items include canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.), soups (with meat), ravioli, chili, white rice, cereal, oatmeal, noodles, granola, protein bars, peanut butter, powered milk and bottled water.

Waitr operates an online ordering technology platform, providing delivery, carryout and dine-in options. Waitr connects local restaurants and grocery stores to diners in underserved U.S. markets. It is a convenient way to discover, order and receive great food and other products from local restaurants, national chains and grocery stores. As of September 30, 2021, Waitr and its other delivery services operate in over 1,000 cities in the U.S.
