Water Main Breaks in Benton

Residents of Benton woke up to no water Saturday morning, due to a water main break.

According to a news release from the Bossier Parish Police Jury, at approximately 7:15 a.m., the Benton Water System experienced a 16” water main break on the west side of Palmetto Road just south of Old Palmetto Road.

This break has resulted in an interruption of service for all Benton Water System customers.  A contractor will begin making repairs this morning.  The repair is expected to take the remainder of the day to complete.  Once the system is back in service, samples will be taken and tests will be performed by The Department of Health and Hospitals.   The testing process usually takes approximately 48 hours in order to receive the results.  A boil advisory will be in place until water samples are cleared.
