Wedding: Skaggs-Valentine

Jill Meredith Skaggs, of Bossier City, and Joseph Allen Valentine, of Blanchard, were united in marriage Saturday, April 25, 2015, at 2 p.m. The double ring ceremony was presided over by Very Reverend Rothell Price at St. Jude Catholic Church.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs Jack M. Skaggs, of Bossier City. She is the granddaughter of Therese B. LaBry, the late Mr. E.J. LaBry, the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack C. Skaggs.

The groom is the son of Mr. & Mrs. George P. Valentine, of Blanchard. He is the grandson of Mrs. Barbara L. Arnot, the late Eli J. Arnot, the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert H. Valentine.

Organist Gwen Stuart presided music for the ceremony.

The bride was escorted by her father.

The bride wore a Madeline Gardner cream-colored gown with lace, light beading throughout and net overlaying a satin slip. The dress featured a  fitted bodice with a flattering scoop neckline, cap sleeves, and a slim A-line skirt. The skirt falls to the floor, where is extends into a chapel length train in the back. The sheer covered back features crystal beaded Alencon lace, rocals and pearls, and a back keyhole design with covered button detailing. The Bride wore a single-tier Cathedral length veil with rolled edge and Alencon lace embellished with rocals.

Her bouquet consisted of vibrant spring flowers including hydrangeas, peonies, stargazer and oriental lilies, roses, larkspur and clematis.

The bride and groom are both avid readers. With this common interest in mind, the bride created three dimensional flowers from their favorite books. These paper flowers were incorporated into the bridal bouquet and the boutonnieres. The bridal flowers also included sprigs from her great grandmother’s bouquet.

Lyndie Cain and Kaye Skaggs served as Matron of Honor. Brittany Cortez, Jenny Traweek, Erin Bauer, and Danielle Harrison served as bridesmaids.

The bridesmaids wore Niagara Blue Dupioni silk dresses of varied designs. They carried smaller versions of the bride’s spring bouquet.

Ring Bearer was Brady Jack Skaggs

Charles Razon served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Anton Razepine, Jack Skaggs, Jeff Wilhite, Dyaln Edwards, and Chris Upton. Ushers were Chris Reich, Evan McCormick, and Kevin Odom.

The reception was held at Chandler Event Center. Decorations consisted of numerous birdcages filled with fresh flowers and candles, ferns, bird nests, eggs, and tiny birds.

The couple will take a honeymoon cruise to the Caribbean.

The couple will make their home in Bossier City.

The bride is a graduate of Airline High School and Cum Laude graduate of Northwestern State University. She is a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha.

The groom is a graduate of Caddo Magnet High School and Summa Cum Laude graduate of Louisiana State University in Shreveport.
