Whole Foods Market® to hold Local 101 class for Louisiana vendors

Grocer will offer suppliers tips for getting products on its shelves

(Feb. 11, 2015) Kelly Landrieu, Whole Foods Market’s local product forager in Louisiana, will lead a Local 101 class Friday, Feb. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Shreveport Convention Center Red River Ballroom, 400 Caddo St. This free program will cover in-depth information on Whole Foods Market’s quality standards, food safety, retail-ready packaging, regulatory requirements and the process for becoming a supplier.

Local 101 is open to all current and aspiring Louisiana food and lifestyle artisans, manufacturers and producers. As seating is limited, individuals interested in attending should email louisianalocal@wholefoods.com to secure a Local 101 spot.

Farmers and ranchers are encouraged to email louisianalocal@wholefoods.com for a separate appointment and more in-depth discussion.

Landrieu notes, “Louisiana is known for its amazing food and culture, and Local 101 is a great way to understand necessary steps in becoming a supplier for Whole Foods Market. We’re excited about the opportunity to showcase local products and flavors.”

Whole Foods Market’s first Shreveport store will open in fall 2015.
