William “David” Jones
April 22, 1959 – April 3, 2025

David passed on April 3, 2025 after a brief illness. A visitation service will be held on Wednesday, April 9th at 10:30AM at St. Jude Catholic Church (4700 Palmetto Rd, Benton, LA) with a memorial service officiated by Monsignor Earl Provenza to follow at 11:30AM.

Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on April 22, 1959, to Carley Maxwell Jones and Letha Rose Underwood Jones, he graduated from Haughton High School and was an All-State and All-District football player. After graduation, he went to Louisiana Tech in Ruston, Louisiana. As part of his experience, David joined the Kappa Alpha Order (KA), eventually becoming President of the fraternity.

David’s first career was supporting the family business, CM Jones Oil Co., and later provided service to Bossier Parish Community College as the Director of Risk Management. David was a dedicated public servant, serving 16 years as a Bossier City Councilman, where he was a leader in the creation of what is now the Brookshire’s Grocery Arena and placed an emphasis on growth for Bossier City. He was appointed and served 11 years as a Commissioner on the Red River Waterway Commission.

David’s community service was robust, serving the Bossier Chamber of Commerce and other organizations. His passion for community involvement may have been best demonstrated as a founding member of the Krewe of Gemini in 1989. David supported the Krewe in many ways, but was instrumental in the building of the Krewe’s floats. He had many hobbies which included gourmet cooking and was an exquisite chef. He enjoyed refinishing his grandfather’s camping equipment. He also loved reading, and always said, “It’s amazing what you can learn when you read.”

David is preceded in his death by his father, Carley M. Jones, and is survived by his mother, Letha “Speedy” Jones; his sister, Carla Jones Crow, husband Larry; and his daughter, Jessica Jones Young, husband Curt and grandchild Jett; as well as a great number of nieces and nephews and his dear friend, Kathryn Haley.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Don E. Jones, Randy Jarrell, Roy Underwood III, Alan Underwood, Jeff Jarrell, Tommy Clark, Rick Lambert, Jimmy Huckabay, Don Williams, Louellen Smith and David Causey.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Willis Knighton North Hospital for their care and patience.
