Four physicians from the Willis-Knighton Physician Network are scheduled to serve as panelists for a free seminar targeted to survivors of gynecologic cancer and their family and friends.

The event is scheduled June 27 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hilton Shreveport Hotel in downtown Shreveport and is being presented by the Foundation for Women’s Cancer. It is one of only a handful of seminars its type presented by the group outside a major metropolitan city.

Topics will include issues such as testing, screening, vaccinations, surveillance of gynecologic cancer, survivorship, psychological needs, cardiovascular and sexual health issues.

Participating in the panel are Willis-Knighton Physician Network physicians: Destin Black, MD; Robin Lacour, MD, and Debra P. Cline, MD, all with Gynecologic Oncology Associates at the Willis-Knighton Cancer Center, and Joyce E. Feagin, medical oncologist with Hematology/Oncology Associates. Dr. Black and Dr. Lacour are also clinical assistant professors in the Division of Gynecologic Oncology, Department of Obstetrics, at LSU Health Sciences Center Shreveport.

Other presenters include Lauren M. Beal, MD, assistant professor of clinical internal medicine and pediatrics at LSU Health Sciences Center, Shreveport; Sharyn N. Lewin, MD, from Regional Cancer Center, Holy Name Medical Center, Teaneck, N.J., as well as William Robinson, MD, and Lily Naz Shamsnia, MD, faulty members at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans.

The event, including lunch, is offered in our community at no charge through the generosity of the Carolyn W. and Charles T. Beaird Family Foundation, Willis-Knighton Health System and LSU Health Shreveport’s Feist-Weiller Cancer Center. The only expense for participants is parking which is $12 for valet and $7 for self-parking.
