BATON ROUGE – Over 400 guests attended the 28th Annual Louisiana Legends Awards Gala presented by Friends of LPB on May 3 at Louisiana’s Old State Capitol.

This year’s honorees included James Elrod, CEO of Willis-Knighton Health System. Other honorees were D-D Breaux, LSU Gymnastics Coach and 2014 and 2017 National Coach of the Year, Thomas Chance, Technology Entrepreneur, Ted Jones, former Chief Lobbyist for the State of Louisiana and Sybil Morial, Advocate, Author and Community Leader.

The Legends Gala program will air on Sunday, May 20 at 5 p.m. and Friday, May 25 at 8 p.m. on LPB.

In honor of the Legends, Gov. John Bel Edwards proclaimed May 3, 2018 as Louisiana Legends Day in the State of Louisiana.

The evening began with a private reception hosted by Honorary Co-Chair, First Lady Donna Edwards at the Governor’s Mansion for the honorees, their special guests and major sponsors of the Gala. The celebration continued at Louisiana’s Old State Capitol with an elaborate champagne cocktail reception and buffet.

Begun in 1990, the Louisiana Legends Awards Gala is a fundraising and public awareness project that helps fund the many fine instructional, educational and cultural programs that LPB provides throughout the year.
