Women’s basketball: BPCC falls in semis of Region XIV tournament

The No. 6 seed Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs fell to No. 2 Tyler Junior College 70-61 in the semifinals of the Region XIV women’s basketball tournament Friday in Jacksonville, Texas.

BPCC completed its second year as a program 19-13. Tyler Junior College, ranked No. 7 in the nation, improved to 28-3.

The Lady Cavs trailed 40-31 at the half and then played the Lady Apaches even in the second half.

A big difference in the game was 3-point shooting. Tyler hit 12-of-31 from behind the arc. BPC made 2-of-13.

Crystal Jones and La’Dencia Johnson led BPCC with 20 and 18 points, respectively. Johnson also had 10 rebounds, and Charity Robinson had eight.

Former Airline star Jeannine Myles scored nine points in her final game. Another former Airline standout, I’mUnique Bryant, scored two points and had two assists in her final game.

Brittny Norris led Tyler with 22 points. She was 6-of-15 from 3-point range.
