The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs closed a challenging season with a 77-48 loss to Panola College on Wednesday night at BPCC.
The Lady Cavs finished their fourth season under Coach John Rennie 9-20 overall and 5-15 in Region XIV. Panola improved to 22-7 and 13-6.
Ashlyn Jacobs and Savannah Thomas led BPCC with nine points each.
While the season didn’t go as Rennie or the Lady Cavs hoped, there were some high points.
The biggest win came on Nov. 30. BPCC knocked off San Jacinto-North College, currently second in the conference, 78-73. San Jacinto (22-7) is ranked No. 20 in NJCAA Division I.
Another highlight was actually a loss. BPCC took Trinity Valley Community College, currently ranked No. 12 and leading the conference, to overtime before falling 71-67 at home on Feb. 15.
BPCC also went toe-to-toe with defending national champion Gulf Coast State, currently No. 3, for three quarters before losing 117-84 on Dec. 15 in Panama City, Fla.
Another highlight was the play of freshman Jacobs, a 5-foot-3 former Mansfield star. She went into Wednesday’s game leading the conference in scoring at 17.7 points per game.
Freshmen Tyra Kidd of Airline and Brandy Harris of Benton saw significant playing time this season.
