Women’s college basketball: BPCC falls to Jacksonville in OT after big fourth-quarter rally


The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs rallied from a 20-point deficit after three quarters to send their game against Jacksonville College into overtime Wednesday night.

But Jacksonville pulled out an 84-82 victory in The Billy Montgomery Gym.

BPCC dropped to 3-12 overall and 1-3 in Region XIV. Jacksonville improved to 3-11 and 2-2.

BPCC trailed 39-26 at the half and 63-43 after three quarters. The Lady Cavs then outscored the Lady Jaguars 29-9 in the fourth and the game went into OT tied at 72.

Autumn Coram led the Lady Cavs with 19 points.

Rukiah Utley and Gabby Dodson both had double-doubles. Utley scored 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds. Dodson scored 14 and had 11 rebounds. She also blocked five shots.

Jacksonville guard Ca’Leyah Burrell poured in 38 points. She was 14 of 30 from the field, including 4 of 12 from 3-point range.

Na’Kendra Ellis was the only other Lady Jaguar in double figures with 15 points.

BPCC travels to Lufkin, Texas, on Saturday for a 2 p.m. Region XIV game against Angelina College (10-5, 2-1).
