Women’s college basketball: Fourth-quarter surge lifts No. 4 Trinity Valley past BPCC


The Bossier Parish Community College Lady Cavs fell to No. 4 Trinity Valley Community College 92-75 in Region XIV women’s basketball action Saturday afternoon at BPCC.

BPCC fell to 17-10 overall and 9-9 in Region XIV. BPCC has two games left before the conference tournament. The Lady Cavs face Paris JC on the road Wednesday and close the regular season at home Saturday against Panola College.

Conference leader Trinity Valley improved to 25-2 and 17-1.

Former Byrd standout Diamond Willis had a double-double for the Lady Cavs, scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Michee Alexander added 12 points. Desiree Lyons and T’Erika Bell scored 11 each.

After falling behind 21-14 in the first quarter, BPCC heated up in the second. The Lady Cavs outscored the Lady Cardinals 26-16 to take a 40-37 lead into the locker room. BPCC continued to play well in the third quarter and it was tied at 61 going into the fourth.

But the Lady Cardinals moved into a higher gear into the fourth, scoring 31 points to pull away for the victory.

Naomi Davenport and Maya Singleton led Trinity Valley with 22 and 20 points, respectively.
