On Saturday, April 5, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary will host a fashion show and luncheon in Bossier City.
The event will be a fundraiser to benefit the Veterans’ Relief charity, and cancer aid and research, according to Shirley Koval, the Auxiliary’s community service chairman.
“We decided on a luncheon and style show,” Koval said. “Belk and Dress Barn [will] be the stores that provide the fashion that we wear. Each store is going to have six models, and we got the models from our Auxiliary.”
The Ladies Auxiliary has volunteers in several community service positions throughout the area.
“We have the VA Medical Center, and the Veterans Home in Bossier that volunteers do work for,” Koval said. “And I do work for my homeowners association, the administration duties, and I grocery shop for s blind veteran and his family. Anything that is called community service, we do.”
Planning for the style show began about a year ago, according to Koval.
“[We] took our time,” she said. “And now it’s coming up, and we’re hoping it will be a success.”
The doors open at 11 a.m., and lunch will be served at 11:30. Participants in the Bossier Sheriff’s office’s Young Marines program will be on hand at the luncheon to help serve drinks and perform other duties as needed.
Tickets for the fashion show are fifteen dollars apiece, Koval said, and the auxiliary needs to sell one hundred tickets in order to net a good amount of money for the fundraiser. In addition, attendees will also have the opportunity to enter in a raffle for a spa basket.
“We want everybody to have a good time,” Koval said. “It’ll be a fun relaxing couple of hours.”
Tickets can be purchased by contacting Shirley Koval at (318) 549-1251. Ticket sales will close on Sunday, March 31.
