Bossier Sheriff’s Young Marines held a change of command ceremony Wednesday at their facilities on Cox Street (old Charlotte Mitchell) in Bossier City.
Instructor Lavaro Ramey relieved Dep. Steve Hoff as commander of the local Young Marines program hosted by Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.
Hoff, an eight-year veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and Bossier Sheriff’s Office deputy for four years, has served as commander for the past two years. Ramey recently retired from the Marine Corps as a first sergeant with more than 21 years of service and has been working with the Young Marines program over the past couple of years.
Hoff was presented a plaque that read, “Due to your dedicated service and selfless efforts while commanding the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Young Marines, you have helped shape the lives of hundreds of youth by promoting self-discipline, self-confidence and self-respect.” – Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.
