Youth baseball: Three Bossier All-Star teams set to compete in DYB World Series tournaments starting Friday at Tinsley Park

Three Bossier All-Star teams will be competing in Diamond (formerly) Dixie) Youth Baseball Division I World Series tournaments starting Friday at Tinsley Park.

Bossier takes on South Carolina state champion Hilton Head in pool play of the AAA (10U) tournament at 11:30 a.m. Friday on Field 6.

Bossier faces Virginia state champion Dinwiddie Nationals in pool play of the Majors (12U) tournament at 1 p.m. on Field 7.

Bossier plays South Carolina state champion Greer in pool play of the Ozone (12U) tournament at 1 p.m. on Field 9.

The Division I tournament will conclude on Aug. 6 or 7 depending on the outcome of games.

The Division II tournaments concluded Tuesday. The winners were Georgia (AAA), Texas (Majors and Florida (Ozone).

According to a Shreveport-Bossier Sports Commission press release, the Division I and II tournaments are expected to generate an estimated economic impact of approximately $4 million.

A total of 750 young athletes from 22 teams were expected to compete.

As the host, the Bossier teams did not have to qualify for the tournament. The other teams qualified by winning their respective state tournaments.

The Louisiana Division I state champions are Girard in 10U and 12U and Ponchatoula in 12U Ozone. 

Other states represented are Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.
