High school basketball: Parkway boys, Benton girls win tournament games

The Parkway Panthers and Benton Lady Tigers picked up wins In tournaments Wednesday.

The Panthers defeated North Caddo 85-75 in the nightcap of the first day of the Barksdale Federal Credit Union Parkway Basketball Showcase boys tournament.

The Lady Tigers defeated Buckeye 57-51 in the ASH tournament.

Parkway led 62-50 with about three minutes to go in the third quarter. But North Caddo went on a 15-0 run for a 65-62 lead early in the fourth.

The Titans led 72-69 with about 4:30 left. Parkway’s Caleb Evans hit a 3-pointer to tie it with 3:57 left. After a series of turnovers and misses by both teams Evans knocked down another 3-pointer to give Parkway the lead for good.

Taking advantage of turnovers and good defense inside, the Panthers closed the game with a 16-3 run. 

Parkway (4-5) faces Idabel, Okla., Friday at 8 p.m. on Day 3 of the four-day event.

Here is Thursday’s schedule: Mansfield vs. Ringgold, 4 p.m.; North Caddo vs. Southwood, 5:20; Airline vs. Idabel, 6:40; Bossier vs. Red River, 8.

At Alexandria, three Benton players scored in double figures. Kryshna Bostic had 11 points. Jannah Carter and Addison Morris scored 10 each.

Morris also had eight rebounds. Carter had four steals.

Benton (8-3) faces Marksville Thursday at 5:30.
