High school soccer: Regular season comes to an end; playoff pairings to be announced Tuesday

The Bossier Bearkats and Loyola College Prep Flyers played to a scoreless tie In a District 1-III boys match Monday night at Bossier.

With the tie Loyola (16-2-6, 2-0-1) claimed the district championship. Bossier (13-5-3, 1-1-1) could have earned a share of the title with a victory.

Monday marked the end of the regular season. Pairings for the boys and girls playoffs will be announced by the LHSAA Tuesday.

Loyola will go into the Division III playoffs as the No. 1 seed, according to unofficial power rankings on GeauxPreps.com. Bossier is No. 3 and will host a first-round match.

In other boys matches Monday, Airline defeated Parkway 5-1 and Haughton played Caddo Magnet to a 1-1 tie.

Both the Vikings and Panthers will both be on the road in the first round of the playoffs. Airline (10-5-3) is No. 24 in the Division I power rankings. Parkway (5-11-2) is No. 27 in Division II.

Junior Funez and Brady Parks scored two goals each for Airline. Oscar Pacheco scored one. Alan Breton had three assists, giving him 23 for the season. Matthew Posey had seven saves.

Benton (11-11-1) did not play. The Tigers are No. 23 in the Division I power rankings according to GeauxPreps.com and will be on the road in the first round.

Ethan Osbon scored Haughton’s goal with an assist from Arlington Galdamez. The Bucs closed their season 4-16-1.

In girls matches Monday, Bossier defeated Franklin Parish 7-1, Providence Classical Academy defeated Huntington 8-1, Airline fell to North DeSoto 2-1 and Parkway lost to Loyola 8-0.

PCA, which is not eligible for the playoffs as a first-year LHSAA member, finished 10-0-2.

Airline (8-8) is No. 28 in the Division I power rankings and Parkway (11-5-5) is No. 22 in Division II. Both will be on the road in the first round of the playoffs.

Benton, which finished the regular season last week with an 18-3-3 record, is the only parish girls team that will host a first-round match. The Lady Tigers are No. 3 in Division I.

Bossier (6-13-1) will be on the road in the first round of the Division III playoffs.
