The Bossier City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to install a 4-way stop sign at the intersection of Greenacres Boulevard and Fairmont Drive in the Greenacres Subdivision during its regular scheduled meeting on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.

Residents have voiced concerns over excessive speeding in the area, prompting city officials to take action.

“People are speeding down there, going 40, 50, even 60 miles per hour,” said Vince Maggio, Bossier City Councilman for District 5. “You sit on your front porch, and you think you are on I-20. It’s getting really bad.”

Bossier City Police Chief Daniel Haugen acknowledged the ongoing issue and emphasized efforts to curb speeding in the neighborhood.

“Our traffic unit works that area pretty regularly. We have put speed signs out on occasion,” Haugen said. “The problem that you are seeing there is a lot of come-and-go traffic.”

Other Council Actions

In addition to approving the new 4-way stop, the council addressed several other key agenda items:

–          The council approved the first reading of an ordinance to amend the city’s contract with Tyler Technologies to include Planned Annual Continuing Education (PACE) and strategic account management services.

–          Mayor Thomas H. Chandler was authorized to sign a Subscription Agreement with Municode-CivicPlus for the annual codification of Code of Ordinance supplements. The ordinance passed its first reading.

–          The council adopted a resolution to approve the replacement of one part-time event coordinator position for the Bossier Civic Center.
