Three Bossier Parish wrestlers won championships in the Ochsner Health LHSAA Wrestling State Tournament Saturday at the Brookshire Grocery Arena.
Benton senior Cooper Reagan won the Division I boys 175-pound class.
Haughton senior Natalie Davis and Benton freshman Audrina Wade made history simply by competing in the first LHSAA-sanctioned girls state tournament.
Now they’ll be remembered as the first to win state titles. Davis won the 120-pound weight class and Wade won the 132-pound class.
Of course, they will also go down in history as the first LHSAA state champions from their respective schools.
Reagan, who finished second in the 165-pound class last year, was the No. 3 seed. He won a 16-8 major decision over No. 2 seed Harris Treuting of team champion Jesuit in the semifinals Saturday morning.
In the title match, he defeated No. 1 Caleb Shartle of St. Paul’s 7-1. Regan scored all seven points in the second period with a three-point takedown and four-point nearfall.
According to TrackWrestling.com, Reagan finished with a 49-4 record.
Davis, the No. 2 seed, dominated her division. She pinned all four of her opponents, never taking longer than 1:31.
