High school girls basketball: Five parish teams headed to playoffs

Five parish teams qualified for the playoffs and two will have first-round byes.

Official pairings were announced Monday by the LHSAA.

Two-time defending champion Parkway (26-4) is the No. 1 seed in non-select Division I.  Lady Panthers will host the winner between No. 16 Airline (17-8) and No. 17 Thibodaux (17-8) in the second round next week.

Airline will host Thibodaux Thursday.

Haughton (26-5) is the No. 4 seed and will receive a first-round bye. The Lady Bucs will hos the winner between No. 13 Destrehan (22-8) and No. 20 Ouachita Parish (18-9) in the second round.

Benton (21-13) is the No. 21 seed. The Lady Tigers will travel to Slidell to play No. 12 Northshore (23-6) in the first round.

Plain Dealing is the No. 16 seed in non-select Division IV. The Lady Lions (15-14) will host No. 17 Franklin (10-10) in the first round.

Bossier just barely missed making the playoffs. The Lady Kats (10-18) were No. 30 in the non-select Division II power rankings. The top 28 teams make the playoffs.
