It was a tough night for Bossier Parish teams in the first round of the playoffs Thursday.
The Airline Lady Vikings, Benton Lady Tigers and Plain Dealing Lady Lions all saw their seasons come to an end.
In non-select Division I first-round games, No. 16 seed Arline fell to No. 17 Thibodaux 62-54 at Airline, and No. 21 Benton lost to No. 13 Northshore 70-58 in Slidell.
In non-select Division I, No. 16 Plain Dealing lost to No. 17 Franklin 57-18 at Plain Dealing.
At Airline, the Lady Vikings’ Addison McDowell closed an outstanding junior season with a game-high 31 points.
Amari Mosley added 10 and Cartavya Butler six.
Airline trailed 17-9 after the first quarter. The Lady Vikings stayed close in the second quarter and trailed 25-18 late.
But the Lady Tigers got essentially a four-point play in the final seconds on a basket followed by another after a missed free throw just before the buzzer.
Thibodaux pulled away in the third quarter and led 49-31. Airline got hot from 3-point range and cut the lead to single digits in the fourth, but the deficit was too much to overcome,
Zariell Pollard, the Lady Tigers’ 5-foot-11 center, made things tough inside the lane for the Lady Vikings. She led Thibodaux with 26 points, including several second-chance baskets.
Kyra Lacy and Ti’Yonza Thomas scored 14 and 12, respectively.
Thibodaux (18-8) will come back to Bossier City next week to play No. 1 and two-time defending champion Parkway.
Airline closed its season 17-9.
At Northshore, Benton overcame an early 12-point deficit to tie the score at 32-32 at the half. Northshore led 47-42 with just over a minute left in the third quarter. The lady Panthers finished the quarter with a 6-0 run on two 3-pointers for a 53-42 lead.
According to Nola.com, North Texas signee Cherie Spencer led Northshore in the second half with 18 points.
Kryshna Bostic led Benton with 17 points, including three 3-pointers. Addison Morris added nine and Jannah Carter eight.
Benton closed its season 21-14. Northshore improved to 24-6.
At Plain Dealing, Brianna Newton led the Lady Lions with 13 points. Sanaa Lyles added five.
Plain Dealing finished a solid season 15-15. Franklin improved to 10-11.
