The Benton Lady Tigers completed a perfect run through District 1-5A with an 8-3 victory over Evangel Christian Tuesday at Benton.
The Lady Tigers also defeated 2024 non-select Division V state champion Quitman 6-4 following the Evangel game.
Benton (23-4) finished 8-0 in district. Airline (17-8, 6-1) finished second. Natchitoches Central was third (12-14, 6-2) and Haughton (15-14, 5-3) fourth.
Airline edged Haughton 5-3 at Airline.
At Benton, the Lady Tigers led 2-1 after four innings then broke the game open with four in the bottom of the fifth. They added two more in the sixth on a two-run home run by Emersyn Disotell.
Seven Benton players combined for 10 hits. Dylan Defee went 3-for-3. Bayleigh Moniz went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBI. Her bases-loaded double in the fifth gave the Lady Tigers a 6-1 lead.
Moniz allowed two hits in 5 2/3 innings with six strikeouts and no walks.
Ashley Promes went 3-for-4 against Quitman. Olivia Livers went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Moniz went 2-for-3 with a double.
Defee had a triple and double. Disotell had a triple. Moniz went the distance in the circle.
Benton hosts West Ouachita Thursday at 5:30.
At Airline, Haughton broke a 1-1 tie with two runs in the top of the fifth. Airline tied it with two in the bottom of the inning. The Lady Vikings then scored two in the sixth.
Madalynn Shortridge’s sacrifice fly with one out in the sixth scored Ainsley Jones with the go-ahead run. That came after Jones drew a walk and Kemora Guidry singled. Ryan Hutchinson’s double scored Guidry.
Airline’s Emily Rachal went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Hutchinson also went 2-for-3. Guidry went 2-for-4. Tanesciya Thomas had a double.
Airline starter Taylor Smith went 4 2/3 innings. She allowed three hits, struck out seven and walked two. Rachal gave up only hit with six strikeouts and no walks in 2 1/3 innings of relief.
Haughton’s Clara Shaffer went 2-for-3 with a double. Brianna Benecke had a double. Carsyn Kizzia had two RBI,
Airline hosts D’Arbonne Woods Thursday at 6. Haughton visits Zwolle Thursday at 5.
At Parkway, the Lady Panthers scored three in the first and 14 in the second.
Katie Giovengo went 2-for-3 with a triple, double and four RBI. Macee Thompson went 2-for-3 with a triple and two RBI. Ceniya Thompkins had two RBI.
Thompson gave up one hit with six strikeouts and no walks in three innings.
Parkway (10-9, 4-5) hosts Weston Thursday at 6.
