The Haughton Lady Bucs, Parkway Lady Panthers and Plain Dealing Lady Lions won Tuesday as the regular season came to an end.
Haughton defeated Quitman 7-2 at Haughton, Parkway blanked Northwood 10-0 at Parkway and Plain Dealing downed Mansfield 13-9 at Mansfield.
Elsewhere, Benton and Airline fell to defending state champions. The Lady Vikings lost to defending select Division III champion Calvary Baptist 5-0 at Airline. Calvary finished the regular season 33-1.
Benton fell to defending non-select Division III champion Sterlington, the only team to defeat Calvary, 19-4 at Sterlington.
Official playoff pairings are set to be announced today.
Benton, Airline, Haughton, Parkway and Plain Dealing have qualified. Benton will receive a first-round bye in non-select Division I with Airline also likely getting one.
According to GeauxPreps.com, the Lady Vikings are No. 6 in the power rankings. The top six teams in Wednesday’s final rankings released by the LHSAA receive byes.
At Haughton, Carsyn Kizzia went 3-for-3 with two RBI. Pitcher Dixie Williams went 3-for-4 with a double.
Clara Shaffer went 2-for-3 with a double. Brooklyn Ezernack went 2-for-4 with a triple. Charlee Prothro had a double and two RBI. Williams struck out 10.
Haughton closed the regular season 18-15. Quitman, the 2024 non-select Division V champion and likely No. 1 seed in Class B, dropped to 17-10.
At Parkway, six Lady Panthers combined for seven hits. Ceniya Thompkins smacked two home runs and had five RBI. Her two-run homer ended the game in the fifth.
Dakota Howard hit a solo home run. Addison McCall had a double.
Katie Giovengo allowed two hits, struck out seven and walked one.
Parkway, which has won seven in a row, closed the regular season 14-9.
At Mansfield, Sanaa Lyles went 2-for-3 with a double. McKenna Fisk went 2-for-4. The Lady Lions took advantage of 16 walks. Katie Green struck out nine in six innings.
Plain Dealing closed the regular season 9-13-1.
At Airline, the Lady Vikings trailed 2-0 through five innings. Calvary scored two in the sixth and one in the seventh.
Haley Whiteside got both of Airline’s hits.
Airline closed the regular season 19-10.
At Sterlington, Maggie Landman hit a home run and Ashley Promes had a double in the four-inning game.
Benton closed the regular season 26-5. Sterlington improved to 22-6.
