High school track and field: Airline sweeps team titles in Haughton meet

Airline swept the team titles in the Haughton Buccaneer Relays Thursday.

Airline scored 138 points in the boys division. Parkway was second with 109 and Haughton third with 83. 

Airline scored 108 points in the girls division. Benton was second with 100 and Parkway third with 88.

Boys

Parkway’s Devon Oliver and Haughton’s John Hudson Brown were double winners.

Oliver won the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, 9 inches and the discus with a 168-3. Minden’s Demetrius Robinson was second in the shot put with a 41-8. Benton’s Ryder Dodson was second in the discus with a 142-2.

Brown won the 400 in 48.05 and the long jump with a 21-7.5. Airline’s Lathan Woodland was second in the 400 in 48.75. Airline’s Terrance Hayes was second in the long jump with a 20-5.

Airline’s Jayden Williams took the 800 in 1:56.96. Parkway’s Brennan Robin finished second in 1:58.83.

Parkway’s Alex Gomez and Jesus Cordova finished 1-2 in the 1,600. Gomez ran a 4:34.03 and Cordova a 4:49.06.

Parkway’s Andrew Kent and Aiden O’Nishea finished 1-2 in the 3,200. Kent ran a 9:57.8 and O’Nishea a 10:18.89.

Airline’s Zion Smith and Haynesville’s Isaiah Washington dueled in the hurdles.

Smith took the 110 in 14.98. Washington was second in 15.32. Washington won the 300 in 38.60. Smith was second in 39.77.

Haughton’s Kyron Turner won the high jump with a leap of 6-6. North DeSoto’s Javonte Taylor was second with a 6-4.

Benton’s Miller Malley looks to be ready to make a run at his second straight Class 5A pole vault title. He won the event with a vault of 15-0. North DeSoto’s Landon Foust was second with an 11-6.

Benton’s Malachi Zeigler was second in the javelin with a throw of 173-8. North DeSoto’s Chaz Martinez won with a 193-2.

Airline’s Woodland was second in the triple jump with a 41-11. North DeSoto’s Taylor won with a 43-3.5.

Airline won the 4X200, 4X400 and 4X800 relays. 

The Vikings ran a 1:29.71 in the 4X200, a 3:16.69 in the 4X400 and an 8:33.4 in the 4X800.

Haynesville finished second in the 4X200 in 1:31.36. Calvary Baptist was second in the 4X400 in 3:31.62. Parkway took second in the 4X800 in 8:59.31.

Haughton finished second in the 4X100 in 43.79. North DeSoto won in 42.68.

Girls 

Airline’s Jaycie Wallace and Janiyah Boudreaux finished 1-2 in the 100 and 200.

Wallace ran a 12.45 in the 100 and a 25.74 in the 200. Boudreaux ran a 12.81 in the 100 and a 26.12 in the 200.

Benton’s Kyla Daux was a double winner.

She took the 100 hurdles in 16.02 and the triple jump with a 33-7. Bossier’s Zamarion Carter was second in the 100 hurdles in 17.06. Parkway’s Caitlynn Johnson was second in the triple jump with a 32-6.

Daux also finished second in the 400 in 1:00.56. North DeSoto’s Aja Douglas won in 59.72.

Parkway’s Lauren Taylor won the 1,600 in 2:31.53. Benton’s Dominique Coore was second in 2:33.07.

Haughton’s Clara Hicks finished second in the 1,600 in 6:11.29. North DeSoto’s Katelyn Allen won in 5:53.94.

Parkway’s Ember Pierce took the 3.200 in 12:21.63. Lakeside’s Lexi Bradley finished second in 13:39.44.

Bossier’s J’Diya Morris won the 300 hurdles in 48.40. Haughton’s Kinsley Brotherton took second in 49.97.

Airline’s Jayda Chrisley won the long jump with a 16-4. Parkway’s Kamryn Bluitt was second with a 15-9.

Airline’s Shelby Ledet captured the high jump with a 5-2.  Haughton’s Isabella Van was second with a 4-10.

Haughton’s Julianna Boyett took the pole vault . She and three other competitors cleared 8-6. Boyett won fewer misses and Lakeside’s McKenzie Chase was second. Benton’s Isabelle Joyner also cleared 8-6.

Haughton’s Brooke Caporossi took the javelin with a 100-7. North DeSoto’s Ariana Davis was second with a 95-6.

Plain Dealing’s Brianna Newton won the shot put with a 36-7. Parkway’s Zaniyah Carter was second with a 36-6.

Carter also finished second in the discus with a 122-6. North DeSoto’s Yazmin Furgerson won with a 125-4.

Airline won the 4X100 and 4X400 relays. The Vikings ran a 48.09 in the 4X100 and a 4:14.73 in the 4X400. North Webster was second in the 4X100 in 49.49. Bossier was second in the 4X400 in 4:18.59.

Benton won the 4X200 in 1:46.40. Airline was second in 1:46.79. Haughton took the 4X800 in 11:04.47. Lakeside was second in 11:09.01.
