The Bossier Parish Community College Cavaliers split a Region 14 doubleheader against North Texas Community College Friday at BPCC.

The Cavaliers won the second game 3-2 after falling 4-2 in the first.

BPCC is 29-15 overall and 16-11 in the conference.

Sophomore Garrett Blanchard went seven innings in the victory. He gave up two runs while striking out four.

Blanchard now has five wins. He has a 2.02 ERA in 58 innings.

Trailing 2-1 entering the bottom of the seventh, BPCC’s offense came alive.

Bennet Mittelsteadt sparked the rally with a hard-fought single, battling back from an 0-2 count to get the leadoff hitter aboard.

Mittelsteadt was 2-for-4. With runners on, Parker Gwyn stepped to the plate and delivered the game’s defining moment, a two-RBI line-drive double into the right center gap that plated the tying and winning runs.

In the first game, BPCC had runners on the corners in the bottom of the ninth. But NTCC third basema Boston Sehorn saved the game for the Eagles. He dove and caught a 105-mph line drive off the bat of DJ Pinkerton to end the game.

BPCC visits No. 1 LSU Eunice Wednesday at 3 p.m.
